The Year of Gratitude

Most of you know our theme for this year is “gratitude”.  It has been so wonderful reflecting at the end of each day on all that we have to be thankful for that we have taken for granted in the past.

We are definitely thankful for the past year.  We learned to look at even the hard days to find something we are thankful for despite our situation.  Recently I heard the question “What would you have if you only woke up to what you thanked God for the night before?” and it stuck with me.  We have a roof over our head, a bed to sleep in, clean water to drink and food to eat when hungry.  There are so many people who would love to have what we have, and even our bad days are still fortunate.  This is one key reason why comparison to others is detrimental.  We don’t know what they are going through and how something that seems insignificant to you may mean so much more to them.

Last year at this time we announced we would be starting Kingdom Trailhead!  Wow, what a ride it has been for us!  It took us a little time to get the momentum but since June we have had a weekly blog presence.   We hope you have found them to be helpful.  We are so excited to continue with these weekly posts in the upcoming year.  We would love for you to email us at info@kingdomtrailhead.com or comment below with any topics you would like to see in the next year.  We want to take your thoughts and feelings into consideration.

Also in 2017, look for our new book!  We cannot release any details yet, but we are really excited about it.  We also hope to get to know some of you better at our speaking engagements.  And we have a couple ideas for some other big projects.  So as you can see, we have a lot to look forward to next year!

Well, we can’t end this post without telling you our theme for 2017, can we?  Drumroll please….. it is “simplicity”!  This covers a lot of different areas.  We want to simplify our home to make it more inviting and less cluttered.  I’m sure it going to be easy since we with two toddlers running around! 🙂  It is also for life in general.  When we are so busy with our day-to-day activities, we cannot focus on our priorities for life.  We want to focus on our relationship with God, our marriage, our family, our life group, Kingdom Trailhead and yet we overbook our calendar so that one or more of these gets our leftovers.  And if we say they are our priorities, shouldn’t they get the best of us?  The answer is yes!

So this is where we being 2017, our year of Simplicity.  We can’t wait for you to be a part of it with us!!  We want to sincerely thank each of you for coming along beside us in this journey.  We appreciate it!!

Happy New Year friends.  May 2017 be full of blessings and love!

Love this! Simplicity is my theme for 2017 as well – you said it best that we have priorities but we are not actually focusing our time and energy on them. Can’t wait to see what the year holds!

Well to say the least you have a very busy life. It has been a year for us to be reminded to also be grateful. We are so blessed to live in this country that allows freedoms of all kind. To worship is the number one reason to be grateful. Thank you Shannon and Jake. May God bless you with a wonderful 2017. Your book will be awesome. Can’t wait to read it. Love you all 4?
