We will share the survey results next week with you!
It has happened to all of us. During our desert or valley experiences when the pain, discomfort or even sorrow begin to overwhelm us. These are the times when we pray a prayer similar to this: “God, my circumstances are unbearable, please change them!”
When some situations happen upon us we cry out for salvation from the pain, not endurance in the pain. God wants to use your pain to transform you into a greater version of who He created you to be.
In other words, don’t waste your pain. Don’t try to get free from it so quickly. Suffering is one of the primary tools that He can use to shed off the unwanted layers we have picked up along the way. This is made clear in 2 Corinthians 1:9
Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead.
As we experience hardships we also experience God in a new way. Jesus suffered greatly while on earth and He stayed up all night praying until He was captured, tried, beaten and killed. He used this time to draw his heart close to the Father and set an example for us. He prayed to find an alternative way to bring our salvation, but it was not God’s plan to save Him from the peril, but to be with him through it.
What is the goal of suffering? According to Hebrews it is to bring about a new level of holiness. As we enter into the difficult stages of life we can make different choices. We can choose to avoid it at all costs if possible. We can choose to become bitter and angry at the cause which oftentimes comes with venting to other people. We can choose to accept that this is just a normal part of life and let it hammer away at our hearts.
Or we can make a conscience decision to embrace the journey that God has us on as we seek to be more like Him.
We hope and pray that during your next time when you feel down, discouraged or even despair that you remember that no matter what happens, you can still depend on God and He is hoping you choose Him over any other resource available to you for peace and comfort.
Please let us know how we can pray for you.
