A Tiger’s Update

Good morning!  We hope this finds each of you doing well.  How has the first few weeks or even days of school going?  Hopefully everyone is getting settled into a schedule.7366949177680185094-account_id=2

I told this story to my MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group last week and thought our readers might find it as funny.  Our daughter started preschool this year (check out this post if you haven’t yet www.kingdomtrailhead/off-to-school) and last week I arrived early to carline.  Well, her teacher saw me and even though I was fourth in line, asked my daughter to come with her and walked to the car.  It was then that I noticed she was no longer wearing the tutu she arrived to school in.  I “knew” what the teacher was going to say.  Oh, if only!!! 🙂  Her teacher opens the door and my daugher climbs into her seat.  I nervously asked “How did it go today?” thinking I knew the answer which was it went well but your daughter decided recess was too fun and didn’t go potty.  Accidents happen, right?  Boy was I wrong!  Apparently, our daughter had decided she didn’t want to use the potty that afternoon.  And every time the teacher asked to her to go, she would sit on the potty and growl.  Yes…growl.  Imagine this 24 pound, blonde hair, big green eyed almost 4 year old girl looking at you, folding her arms and saying “ GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!”.  Yes, that’s what she did.  Three times.  Then, after the third time she had to change from her tutu to her leggings.  Let me tell you, this was not what I expected to hear.  So, Jake and I had a talk with her about how we don’t growl at our teachers.  Why yes, it was interesting.  I would add that to my list of “Things I Never Thought I Would Say” right along with we don’t eat food dropped from your brother’s mouth in yours.  Oh the joys of parenthood!!  Now when I drop her off for school it goes like this….”Carson, I love you.  Have a great day.  And remember, we don’t growl at our teacher!!”  And usually followed by “Ugh, ok mama.  I won’t growl at my teacher today.”  Seriously.  This is my life!  I love it.  I really do love it.  So that has been our back to school fun!  We would love to hear if you have any similar stories to share.  I know I can’t be alone in all this, right?? 🙂

We also wanted to let you know we have our first book outline DONE!!  We are working with some fabulous people and will hopefully have it out by the end of the year.  Please keep following our weekly blogs for updates.  And as we get closer we will give out more and more teasers and possibly a few giveaways!!  But for now, just know it has to do with your identity.  Not just how you see yourself but how does God see you!  It was our family theme word last year and we can’t wait to explore it with each of you.

Have a safe and fun Labor Day.  This weekend usually symbolizes the last, or at least one of the last weekends, for camping here in Colorado.  It makes me a little sad because I love our camping season.  But it is also the time to celebrate the love of my life.  Jake’s birthday is September 7th so please help me wish him a very, happy birthday!!

Xoxo,
Shannon
